Company name: Bullying Ends Here Website: www.bullyingendshere.ca Cost: Expenses only Overview: Constable Tad MILLINE always had a dream that he wanted to grow up to be a Police Officer. From the age of five, Tad was locked in a basement until the age of seventeen. Growing up in a home rampant with abuse and neglect in Ontario Canada, Tad held onto that dream for many years. Tad was also secretly battling the fact that he was gay. After years of hardship at home and being relentlessly bullied at school, Tad found a way through the darkness to achieve his dream of being a Police Officer. In October 2011, Tad read about a fifteen year old named Jamie HUBLEY who had committed suicide after enduring many years of bullying, first for being a figure skater and in his teens for being gay. When Tad read about this suicide, he decided to do something about it. Tad created the Internationally-recognized, and award-winning program, Bullying Ends Here. Today, Tad shares his harrowing story from the heart, holding nothing back. Tad connects with his audience like very few can. Bullying Ends Here has been credited with saving more than 40 young lives, receiving more than 30,000 emails (Tad responds to them all himself) and taken in by more than a quarter million people around the World, all in four short years! It should be noted that Tad does all of this on his own time and refuses to be paid for his time or efforts. He is THAT passionate! Tad’s efforts have been recognized by every level of Government in Canada, including being recognized in the Canadian Senate. Bullying Ends Here has also been endorsed by several Sporting Figures, Celebrities and the Canadian Prime Minister. As Tad always says; 'Together, we will not only change lives, but SAVE them’! |
Company name: Tribal Theory Website:www.tribaltheory.org Overview: Tribal Theory views bullying behaviour as children and youth who are experiencing exaggerated pain and who are using fear based responses to keep themselves safe. Research show us that regardless of the adversity they face, if children or youth can develop and maintain a positive attachment to school, and gain an enthusiasm for learning, they will do much better in their lives. Tribal Theory presents a creative understanding of the effects of trauma and feelings of low self worth on a student’s education. Tribal Theory in the classroom, is a simple framework designed to support students of all grades and levels of learning, who are responding to adversity, crisis or trauma and who are feeling disconnected from their studies or their peers. Tribal Theory improves educational outcomes by assisting students in identifying their coping strengths. It creates in the moment resilience by offering a relatable context for traumatic events and supports the classroom in being a safe place by promoting authenticity and acceptance. Tribal Theory in the classroom, creates an environment where students can experience a sense of belonging, purpose and emotional well-being; where students can be nurtured through trauma in an environment flourishing in post traumatic growth. Half day (3 hour) workshops can be tailored to school administration including teachers and support. Tribal Theory can also be condensed and modified to be taught to children in any grade, in any time allocation. |
